Born A Ghost emerged from the depths of Tacoma, Washington’s heavy-music scene in 2017, forged by veterans of the city’s earlier metal acts. Founded by Howard Taylor Jolin, Talmadge Craig Hathaway, and Sergio Vasquez, the band set out to merge the crushing weight of doom and stoner metal with the bleak intensity of blackened death metal and the atmospheric pulse of electronica. Drawing deep inspiration from genre pioneers like Neurosis and Cult of Luna, Born A Ghost crafts soundscapes that feel both ritualistic and apocalyptic — slow, deliberate, and unrelentingly immersive.

Originally conceived as a touring outfit, the project quickly evolved beyond the stage. The band’s creative vision expanded into a multimedia experience, incorporating visual art, experimental sound design, and cinematic elements that blur the line between album and atmosphere. Every release is built to be more than a collection of songs — it’s an exploration of tone, texture, and emotional gravity.

In 2023, bassist Edwin “Bo” DeLong joined the lineup, adding new weight to the band’s low-end foundation and pushing the sound even further into hypnotic territory. Today, Born A Ghost stands as a collaborative entity — a living, breathing monument to the Pacific Northwest’s dark musical heritage, where thunderous riffs, haunting electronics, and droning ambience converge to summon something truly otherworldly.
